Whether you live locally, are just arriving in the Wairarapa or are on your way home, The Royal Hotel is perfectly situated at the foot of the Rimutaka incline, Featherston side, for you to stop by for a spot of brunch or lunch, or even a full course dinner.

“The Royal Hotel is very much the gateway to the Wairarapa and many people make us their first and their last stop. We’re here to greet people as they arrive ready to explore this fabulous region, and we’re here to say goodbye too - hopefully sending visitors on their way satisfied and ready for their journey ahead,” says Ulli.

Ulli and Dean’s commitment to providing great tasting food inspired them to launch their own catering company, Guten Appetit Catering, several years ago. Using only the finest and freshest ingredients, sourced from local producers wherever possible, Ulli and Dean, together with Guten Appetit’s chef Robert Thomson and maître d’ Andrea Longhurst, make sure customers enjoy great food at The Royal Hotel.

The Guten Appetit team also provides quality catering for weddings, parties and private dinners throughout the Wairarapa.

“We pride ourselves on the high standard of our food and our service,” explains Ulli. “A celebration, no matter how big or small, is an important event and we aim for perfection. That’s why we take great care to work closely with customers, so we can plan menus to suit different tastes, diets and budgets.”

Guten Appetit Catering also produces the GA Gourmet range of relishes, chutneys and jams – currently available at the Cornucopia Food Store in Featherston.

The Royal Hotel is open daily for bar meals. On Saturdays and Sundays brunch and lunch is from 11.30am and on Thursdays to Sundays dinner is served from 5.30pm. The Royal Hotel’s $15.00 Sunday Roast Special is available every Sunday between 5.30pm and 8.00pm. Bookings for Christmas dinner are now being taken.
